Respiratory System

The respiratory system exchanges oxygen and carbon dioxide throughout the body, even at the cellular level. Breathing is made possible by this system so we can live. Your nose is the main passage way into and out of the respiratory system. After it comes through your nose, it goes to the pharynx (throat). Then, the pharynx branches out in to two tubes. These two tubes are the esophagus and larynx. The larynx is the part of the throat that creates the vocal cords. After that the larynx guards the trachea, which lets air travel to the lungs. Then, the trachea splits into two branches. One of them is the bronchis, and the bronchis creates bronchioles, which form alveoli, tiny air sacs. Oxygen enters the blood through the alveoli in the lungs. Carbon dioxide leave the blood and is exhaled. Then, the breathing is done by the diaphragm and ribs.
